How We Started….

While volunteering at Twin Lakes Food Bank, I learned that many of our clients have needs beyond food and clothing. There are many families in our area who have been homeless and finally get shelter, but sleep and eat on the floor because they have no way to obtain even basic furniture.

Battered women frequently find themselves finally out of their violent environment, but with seemingly no way to furnish a home.

Beds, tables and chairs, dressers, sofas, and cribs can be the beginning of a new life with self-respect. Basic furnishings can turn a shelter into a home, providing comfort, security, and self respect.

At the same time, many more fortunate families have quality furniture that they no longer need and would welcome a way to put it to good use.

Why not connect the source with the need?

How We Work…

Furniture for Families (FFF) is a non-profit, all volunteer organization. Our mission is simple:  To provide children and families with beds to sleep on, a table to eat and study at, and perhaps a dresser to put their things in.

As a furniture bank we solicit and pick up good, serviceable used furniture (no stained or damaged pieces) on an appointment basis from the El Dorado Hills, Folsom, and Rancho Cordova areas.  The furniture is stored at our facility for distribution, free of charge to our clients (over half are children).

All clients must be screened by a local approved service agency and referred by a caseworker familiar with their specific needs.  FFF provides the furniture to the client by appointment.

The goal of FFF is to redistribute safe, clean, functional furniture, in a professional, dignified manner, from those who want to share to those who are truly in need, free of charge.

Since we opened our doors in May 2001, FFF has given away over 13,500 pieces of furniture to more than 1,500 families.

How You Can Help…

Our thanks to the following people for their generous financial support: Carlson Agency, Empire Ranch Women’s Golf Club, Rolling Hills Christian Church, Serrano Women’s Golf Group, Teichert Foundation, Umpqua Bank and…

Ronald McDonald House Charities and Pacific Coast Building Products for cribs,

Sleep Train/Mattress Discounters for beds!

Here are some ways you can help:

  • Operational expenses add up quickly. Cash donations are always needed and greatly appreciated.

  • We always need furniture donations to keep our warehouse full.

  • Call us to donate your car, truck, RV, or boat.

  • We need volunteers to help with furniture pick-ups and office work.

Many of us are blessed with so much and there are many who are in great need. Here is an opportunity to fill the needs and enrich the lives of both.
